Why Prayer Matters More Than We Admit

Most Christians would never say prayer is unimportant. We know better than that. But the way we live often tells a different story.

Prayer is one of the first things to get squeezed out when life gets crowded. We hurry through it. We postpone it. We talk about it more than we practice it.

Why? Because prayer forces us to admit something our pride resists. We need God.

Prayer is where weak people come to a strong God. It is where confused people receive wisdom, weary people receive rest, and burdened people receive grace. It is not something added onto the Christian life. It is part of the heart of the Christian life.

When the early church was threatened, they prayed. When they needed boldness, they prayed. When they needed guidance, they prayed. They understood that prayer was not a side practice. It was central.

The same is true for us.

If we want peace, wisdom, strength, and spiritual power, we are not going to find them by trying harder in our own strength. We will find them as we draw near to the throne of grace.
