At Lake Lynn, we welcome people of all ages and stages because family means everyone has a place. We’re a church with deep roots and open arms, where community feels more like a front porch than a program. From church picnics and vacation Bible school to worship nights and informal get-togethers, everything we do is about sharing the love of Jesus in real, meaningful ways. Our Story

Every family has a story. Ours started back in 1952.

A small group of believers in Fayetteville felt God calling them to start a church between Sandy Run and Big Rockfish Creek. They didn’t have much. Their first home was a building that used to be a store, right off US 301. But they had faith, and they had each other, and that was enough to begin.

They named it Community Baptist Church, and Rev. John Dow became their first pastor.

Like any family, we grew, and growing wasn’t always easy. In 1956 the congregation bought a lot on Seven Mountain Drive and set out to build. They started by digging a basement. Then one of the new basement walls collapsed, and they had to start over. They didn’t quit. They kept building, finished the work, and moved in. That stubborn, faithful spirit is still part of who we are today.

In 1964, the church purchased five acres of land on Gillespie Street in the Lake Lynn community, the property we still call home. By the fall of 1965, a new sanctuary and children’s wing were dedicated, and the congregation moved into the building where we still gather every Sunday.

With the move came a new name, Lake Lynn Baptist. The church was guided in those early years by the New South River Baptist Association and by sponsoring churches who walked alongside us, first Second Baptist Church, then Massey Hill Baptist Church. In 1970, Lake Lynn Baptist Church officially became its own church family.

The years since have been full of God’s faithfulness. We added a fellowship hall, a playground, and a pavilion. We bought more land for the future. But the real story was never the buildings. It was the people. Across these decades, more people than we could ever count have come to know and follow Jesus through the ministry of this church. Some were baptized right here. Others met Christ through the missions and giving this church has poured into for generations, both here in Fayetteville and around the world.

That’s still our heart today. We’re a church that believes our best days are ahead of us, not behind us. We praise God for every season He has carried us through, and we trust Him with every season still to come.
