What Angels Really Look Like (and Why It Should Inspire Us)
Ezekiel saw beings of fire, lightning, and eyes—creatures with four faces and wings that touched one another in perfect symmetry. Isaiah saw seraphim hovering around the throne, crying out, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts.” When the angel rolled away the stone at Jesus’ tomb, his appearance was “like lightning, and his clothing white as snow.”
Angels aren’t meant to be cute. They are meant to reveal God’s holiness. Their appearance reflects His glory—a reminder that the Creator of the universe is not safe, but He is good.
So what do these descriptions mean for us? They pull back the curtain between heaven and earth. They remind us that God’s kingdom is not abstract—it’s real, alive, and active.
The more we understand who angels are, the more we realize that they’re not the main characters of the story—God is. They exist to display His power and to serve His purpose. And when we worship Him, we join the same song they’ve been singing since the dawn of creation:
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain!”
