He Didn’t Stumble Into the Cross

Easter is almost here, and I want to tell you something that I think we miss when we talk about the crucifixion.
Jesus was not a victim.

He was not a good man who got caught up in bad politics. He was not a martyr who ran out of options. He was the Son of God who walked willingly, deliberately, eyes wide open, straight into the cross. Because He knew it was the only way to bring us home.
John 10:17-18 makes this crystal clear. Jesus said, “No one takes my life from me. I lay it down of my own accord.” He had the authority to stop it at any moment. He had twelve legions of angels on standby. He chose not to call them.

Why does this matter? Because if the cross was something that just happened to Jesus, it’s a tragedy. But if the cross was something Jesus chose for you, it’s the greatest act of love in human history.

When you picture Jesus riding into Jerusalem, don’t picture a man who doesn’t know what’s coming. Picture a King who knows exactly what the week holds, and rides in anyway. Because He loves you that much. He always has. He always will.
If you’ve never trusted Him, this is a good week to start. The door is open.
