When Jesus Picks Up the Towel

Dark image of a strand of DNA with the title "The DNA of a Disciple"
Foot washing made sense in the first century. Dusty roads. Sandals. A servant at the door. What makes no sense is the Lord of all kneeling to do it. Jesus washed the feet of His friends and the feet of a man who would betray Him. That is humility in motion.

We often want the title more than the towel. Jesus chose the towel. If He did not consider service beneath Him, it is not beneath us. Start small. Sweep the entry without being asked. Write a thank you card. Ask the person you love, “Do you need me to fix this, or do you need me to listen?” Humility is not thinking less of yourself. It is thinking of yourself less so you can love more.

Call to action: Practice one quiet act of service this week. Then join us Sunday as we look at how the path of humility leads to real joy.
