The Door Is Stuck Open and You Don’t Have to Earn Your Way In
I want to be really clear about that. Lake Lynn Baptist Church is not a place for people who have it all together. It is a hospital for people who are sick and lost and hurting and looking for something real. And the something real is Jesus.
He said in John 10:9, I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved. Not if you’re good enough. Not if you’ve been coming long enough. If anyone. That is the widest word He could have used, and He used it on purpose.
Here is what I told our church on Easter Sunday. The door of God’s grace does not stay open because you keep performing. It stays open because Jesus already finished the work. It is stuck open. Permanently. You don’t have to clean yourself up first. You don’t have to fix the thing you broke before you come in. You come in broken and He does the fixing.
The Bible says if you confess your sins, He is faithful and just to forgive your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Not some. Not most. All. Whatever you have done, whatever you are most ashamed of, whatever you think is too far gone for God to touch, it is covered. Paid. Done.
He is like the father in the story of the prodigal son. Standing at the end of the road, watching, waiting, ready to run toward you the moment you turn in His direction. He is not waiting to scold you. He is waiting to bring you home.
The tomb is empty. The price is paid. The door is open. All you have to do is walk through it.
Come home.
