The Strange Connection Between Adam and the Naked Runaway

Jesus in radiant light pursuing humanity toward redemption and grace, illustrating Christian salvation message
At first glance, Adam in Genesis and the young man in Mark 14 seem completely unrelated.

One appears at the beginning of Scripture.

The other appears briefly near the end of Jesus’ earthly ministry.

Yet both stories share the same themes.

Nakedness.

Shame.

Fear.

Running.

Adam and Eve sinned and hid.

The young man fled in fear.

Both stories reveal humanity’s instinctive response to brokenness.

We run.

We hide.

We cover ourselves.

But the Gospel offers a different solution.

Instead of hiding our shame, Jesus carried it.

Instead of running away from our guilt, He moved toward the cross.

The story of redemption begins with people hiding from God and ends with God pursuing people through Christ.

That is the beauty of the Gospel story.
