Ancient Words, Living Truth

We have spent the past few weeks walking through our Ancient Words series, and I hope it has reminded you of something powerful. The Bible is not an old, dusty book filled with distant stories. It is the living Word of God. It is a voice that still speaks today.

Every verse, every story, and every promise points us to the heart of a God who never changes. The same words that guided generations before us are still lighting the path for us right now. That is why we call them ancient words ever true. They have stood the test of time because truth does not expire.

But if the Bible is living and active, that means it is not just meant to be studied or admired. It is meant to be lived.

When we hear God’s Word on Sunday, it is an invitation to take it home. To think about it again on Monday morning. To pray over it during the week. To let it shape the way we speak, work, forgive, and love.

In John 17:17, Jesus prayed, “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” His desire was not simply that we would know the Bible but that it would transform us. That happens when we open it with humble hearts and let the Holy Spirit teach us.

The Bible should be more than a reference book. It should be a relationship book. It draws us closer to God’s heart and teaches us what it means to walk with Him daily.

So how do we live out these ancient words?

Read them daily. Make time for God’s Word every day, even if it is only a few minutes. A small, consistent rhythm builds strong roots.

Reflect deeply. Do not rush. Ask God what He wants you to learn, correct, or change.

Live them boldly. Let what you read shape your choices, your relationships, and your words.

Share them freely. Encourage someone else with what you are learning. Scripture multiplies its impact when it is shared.

In Psalm 119, David wrote, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” That means Scripture not only shows us where to go but also reveals where we stand. It gives clarity in confusion and direction in uncertainty.

As a church, our call is to be people of the Word. To come home to its truth again and again. To let it dwell in us richly. To let it remind us that no matter what the world says, God’s promises still stand, His character has not changed, and His love never fails.

Ancient words. Eternal truth. Living hope.

Let’s carry the Word home this week and live like it matters.
